Linking Versus Pushing: What's the Right Option for Me?

If you have your inventory on both platforms, LINKING will be the fastest way to get you started. If your inventory is only (or mostly) on one platform, PUSHING will be your best bet!

After you've connected your Point of Sale and eCommerce platforms to SKU IQ, you may be wondering what to do next. Inventory quantities won't automatically start syncing until you've either linked or pushed your items. So, what's the difference?

Linking items is literally matching products between your two platforms. We like to describe it as playing match maker, or Go Fish if you're in to card games. Linking will take in to account the Product Title, SKU number, and UPC you've entered for your products on both sides. Don't worry if you're not using SKUs or UPCs, we can still match on the Product Title as long as it's spelled the same! Check out this article on Troubleshooting the Link Report for more details on how to make those matches happen.

Pushing items on the other hand is taking a copy of your product on one platform and pasting it on the other. There are some limitations on what data is sent to the opposing platform when you do this, however. Check out the integration pages to see what data types sync. If you're confused about what these data types are, check out this article on Product Attributes for quick and easy explanations. Pushing can be super handy if you're just getting started with the eCommerce side of your business or are opening your first brick and mortar store - or if you're an event seller and want to push certain items to your handheld Point of Sale.

We also offer bulk pushing for your convenience. A bulk push allows you to have all of your items pushed over at once instead of the 50 items per push limit - we also facilitate that for you, so if anything goes awry, we're here to fix it without any input on your end.

If you want to push all of your products at once with our assistance, please contact Support to schedule a bulk push. **Additional fees may apply**.
