Why is "TikTok Order" showing up instead of my customer's name on orders from TikTok Shop?

A recent change in Shopify order requirements has forced SKU IQ to update the way we send TikTok Shop orders to Shopify in order to ensure successful information handling.

Effective Monday, August 28, 2023, there have been modifications to our customer information handling process for orders sent from marketplaces such as TikTok Shop to Shopify.

Why are all of my customer names "TikTok Order"?

In response to recent changes made by Shopify, it is now mandatory to create a customer account for all orders originating from marketplaces like TikTok Shop. Nonetheless, TikTok's platform only provides limited customer information, specifically an anonymized email address associated with the order. Consequently, we have implemented the following customer details for orders generated from TikTok Shop:

Customer Details:

First Name: TikTok

Last Name: Order

Email: anonymized_id@chat-seller-us.tiktok.com

We acknowledge that this may seem unusual, but please be assured that this change is solely a response to the new requirements set by Shopify. By utilizing the provided anonymized email address, we can uphold the order's integrity and ensure it is accurately attributed to the respective customer.

Will this affect order fulfillment?

Not at all! All recipient "ship-to" information will be provided as usual. This includes the recipient's full name, complete US mailing address, and phone number. We understand that some buyers may have multiple addresses in their TikTok Shop address book. In such cases, please be aware that the "ship-to" address information may belong to a different person than the buyer themselves.
