How Do I Pick My Source of Truth?

When picking your primary system it can be tricky to figure out where you're going to be making most of your edits and creating new products.

The beauty of SKU IQ is its flexibility on how we can set up your connections to your eCommerce and Point of Sale to best benefit you and enhance how you currently run your business. You may be more familiar with how your Point of Sale works with how to enter in new products, update prices, etc. Or you may be starting your first brick and mortar store and are more familiar with how your eCommerce works. SKU IQ makes it easy to continue to do data entry on the platform you are most familiar with and update the opposing platform with ease.

During linking using the Link Report, you will be asked which system is your Source of Truth or Primary System. During linking, the only field that will change when selecting a primary system is the quantity. When you select a primary system for the link report, we overwrite the quantity only.

However, you may be wondering how you can update other product attributes like the product's title, price, or description. When you are doing the initial setup with SKU IQ, you are asked to select what attributes you would like to sync on Step 5

Other than inventory quantity, these attributes sync in one way, meaning that you have to choose where the Source of the data will be (AKA The Source of Truth). If you are familiar with making changes on your Point of Sale, we recommend selecting the options on the top part (where the options are to sync from your Point of Sale to your eCommerce). Or if you are more familiar with making changes on your eCommerce platform, select the options on the bottom (where the options are to sync from your eCommerce to your Point of Sale).

Note: Not every field will sync. You should check your specific integrations to see how the fields sync for your platforms.

Once you have finished the setup wizard, you will find these settings under the Settings tab on your Dashboard. However, you will notice that all of the options are grayed out. Currently, you must contact Support to change your configuration. 

You do not need to select all options from one system. If you would prefer to make price adjustments on your eCommerce, but be able to update titles and SKUs from your Point of Sale, that is perfectly acceptable and we are happy to accommodate such a configuration.
