This article will tell you what types of documentation you will need to upload to TikTok Shop in order to sell trademarked brands.
Uploading brand authorization allows sellers to demonstrate they are authorized to sell branded products on TikTok Shop by submitting documents from brand owners. This process is not always mandatory, but TikTok Shop has the right to request and reject listings without proper authorization.
While TikTok Shop does not mandate brand authorization documents for every brand, they retain the authority to request documentation from sellers whenever necessary. TikTok Shop may require sellers to obtain brand authorization for certain products, brands, and product categories prior to listing these products on TikTok Shop. Although this doesn't prevent infringement actions, it verifies sellers' permissions, ensuring a balance between diverse seller inclusion and brand interest protection. Brand authorization is typically needed when selling products under any trademarked names. On your Seller center go to your Shop Icon on the top-right corner > My Account > Account Settings.
On the account settings page, select Qualification Center.
On the Qualification Center page, select Brand Qualification > Add brand authorization.
On the pop-up page, select what type of authorization you are applying for and confirm.
2. Types of Brand Authorization
Brand owners
If you are a Brand owner, you'll need to fill out the following information:
- Trademark Owner
- Trademark name
- Registration Number
- Brand name
- Trademark registration application date

1st Level Authorized Seller
If you are a direct distributor of a brand you do not own, you'll need to fill out the following information:
- Brand name
- Category
- Letter of Authorization issuer contact email
You'll also need to upload the following documents:
2nd Level Authorized Seller
If you are a direct distributor of a brand you do not own, you'll need to fill out the following information:
- Brand name
- Category
- Letter of Authorization issuer contact email
- the expiration date of the 1st level authorization (if applicable)
- the expiration date of the second letter of authorization (if applicable)

A Brand Authorization Letter is a signed and sealed letter that is given by the brand owner to sellers/vendors to sell, distribute, and/or exhibit their products with the mentioned brand name. The Brand Authorization Letter provides the authenticity of the supplier and the owner. TikTok Shop requires you to have this uploaded prior to trying to sell for many popular brands.
