Troubleshooting Uploading Products to TikTok Shop

This article will go over common errors you may encounter when uploading products to your TikTok Shop from SKU IQ.

Overview

There are a few common errors that you may or may not encounter while you are uploading products from SKU IQ to TikTok Shop. This article will go into detail on the various errors you may find and how to resolve them on your own.   1. Only whitelisted sellers are permitted to trade under current category (Error 12019002) or Category unavailable. Select another category (Error 12019002)
  2. The sales attributes or product attributes contained invalid characters. Please modify and re-submit. (Error 12019030)

  4. Required Param Available_Stock is Missing (Error 101000)

  12. The sale attribute name should contain less than 20 characters, check the attributes name [variable name] (Error 12019030)
  13. Your Authorization has Expired (Error 105001)
  14. Your Return Warehouse is Not Set Up (Error 12052535)

  16. Limitations of the Free Trial

1. Only whitelisted sellers are permitted to trade under current category (Error 12019002) or Category unavailable. Select another category (Error 12019002)

Reason it Happens:

The category you selected for your item to upload to TikTok Shop is within one of the restricted categories (you can find a list of these in this article).

How to Fix it:

If you have been approved to sell in this category and are still getting this error, please contact SKU IQ support. If you have not been approved to sell in that restricted category, you will need to contact TikTok Shop Support to find out how to obtain permission to sell in this category.


2. The sales attributes or product attributes contained invalid characters. Please modify and re-submit. (Error 12019030)

Reason it Happens:

TikTok does not like Unicode characters. They will only accept ASCII characters (you can see a complete list of printable ASCII characters here - do not use the extended ASCII characters). We have resolved this by sending over all descriptions as plaintext (meaning it will only send ASCII characters, no Unicode characters).

You may also run into this issue if you use a prohibited phrase in your product or sales attributes. Prohibited phrases can include colors like Tobacco Brown. 

How to Fix It:

If you are using bullets, paragraph breaks, etc. in your Shopify descriptions, you will need to use ASCII characters instead of any Unicode characters. 

If you are using a prohibited phrase in your product or sales attributes, you will need to change that phrase to a non-prohibited word or phrase.

3. Required Qualification is Missing  (No Error Number)

Reason it Happens:

This usually happens due to the category for TikTok Shop missing or SKU IQ assigned an invalid category during the onboarding wizard. This can also be due to missing data points that are used to differentiate variants.

Resolution:

You will need to assign the correct category to your item. Use this article to change your category on SKU IQ before trying to upload the product again.

4. Required Param Available_Stock is Missing (Error 101000)

Reason it Happens:

The item you are trying to upload does not have any inventory or some if not all of the variants have a nil value as the inventory count. (This is displayed as a dash - in SKU IQ).

Resolution:

If you have not enabled inventory tracking in Shopify for the products you would like to upload to TikTok Shop, make sure you do so. If you have inventory quantities on Shopify, but they are coming in as Nil values on SKU IQ, please contact SKU IQ Support

5. One or more images could not be synced. Please check images sizes for this product and try again (Error 12038001)

Reason it Happens:

TikTok has some very explicit constraints on image resolution, file size, and file type. You can see a full explanation in this FAQ article

Resolution:

You will need to change the images so that they fit the constraints of TikTok Shop. Please refer to the FAQ article on TikTok Images for work around ideas.

6. Please add shipping template (Error 12019088)

Reason it Happens:

You have not set up a Shipping Template in TikTok Shop for Shipped by Seller. If you have not set up a Shipping Template, SKU IQ will not be able to sync your orders from TikTok Shop to Shopify.

Resolution:

You will need to set your Shipping Templates up on TikTok Shop. Please follow the instructions in this section of the article on TikTok Shop Pre-Setup. If you need help setting up your template, please contact TikTok Shop Support. Since this function is performed on TikTok's side, there is only so much that SKU IQ support can help with, but we're happy to try to help.

7. The SKU stock must be between [0,999999] (Error 12019024)

Reason this Happens:

The item does not have inventory for either all or some of the variants of that particular product. That means that the inventory is being read into SKU IQ as a Nil value (a dash) for the quantity. This can happen due to no inventory being input into Shopify or inventory tracking for that product not being enabled.

Resolution:

Make sure that inventory tracking is turned on in Shopify for these products. If tracking is on, please make sure that there is a quantity input in Shopify. It may take a few seconds for any changes to the quantity to sync over to SKU IQ. Once you are sure that all of the variants have a quantity other than "dash"/-, you can retry your push to TikTok Shop. Any item with a negative quantity will be sent to TikTok Shop as a 0.

8. Product status invalid (Error 12052901)

Reason this Happens:

TikTok rejected the products already for some reason, so you cannot push them again until you have resolved why TikTok has rejected the product.

OR

Items have already been uploaded to TikTok and are in a suspended state. You cannot sync changes from Shopify until the items are approved or denied.

Resolution:

Any products that have been rejected by TikTok will be under the failed tab under mange products they will also tell you a reason as to why the item was rejected. Items that are under review, will be located in the reviewing tab. There may be additional information that TikTok needs to approve the items. Please make sure you have uploaded that information as needed. You can find information about what documentation is needed through TikTok Shop Academy on this link. You will need to be logged in to your TikTok Shop Seller Center to see this article.

9. The seller SKU text length cannot exceed 50 characters (Error 12019059)

Reason This Happens:

The SKU number that has been input on Shopify exceeds the 50 character limit that TikTok has in place.

Resolution:

You will need to change the SKU number on Shopify to be less than 50 characters. Please check with your drop shipper prior to doing this to make sure that it will not affect drop shipping if you are using drop shipping. 

💡Tip: You will not be able to edit this field on SKU IQ.

10. Seller is inactived (Error 12019004)

Reason This Happens:

The seller has taken their TikTok Shop offline temporarily or the seller's account has been banned from selling on TikTok Shop.

Resolution:

🦩 If you have taken your TikTok Shop offline or inactivated it, you should reactivate it. Most sellers will use "Holiday Mode" to deactivate their account temporarily so that they can go on vacation or take a break from selling on TikTok Shop. You can access the holiday mode settings here

🚫 If your account has been banned by TikTok Shop, you have likely violated one of TikTok Shop's rules on selling and you will have to appeal that with TikTok Shop. You can likely appeal that through their contact form.

11. You are currently in your New Shop Probation Period and are limited to uploading 100 product listings per day (Error 12019068)

Reason it Happens:

Your TikTok Shop Seller Account is under the new shop probationary period (which lasts AT MINIMUM 60 calendar days). There are several criteria that need to be met before you graduate from this period.

Resolution:

TikTok Shop is in charge of your probationary period. For more information about TikTok Shop's probationary period, see this document from TikTok Shop Academy. You will need to be logged in to your Seller account to see this document.

💡 Tip: During your probation period with TikTok Shop, you are limited to uploading 100 products per day and taking 100 orders per day. 

You will need to meet the following criteria: 

Category Metrics Criteria
Duration Days in Probationary Period 60 calendar days or more
Order Quantity of Orders Sellers must have a quantity of at least 1000 orders 
Fulfillment Seller-fault Cancellation Rate The Cancellation Rate attributed to a seller's fault must be less than 10%
Fulfillment Late Dispatch Rate A seller's Late Dispatch Rate must be less than 10%
Fulfillment Seller Fault Return/Refund Rate The Return/Refund Rate attributed to a seller's fault must be less than 1.5%
Fulfillment Valid Order Tracking Rate A seller's valid Order Tracking rate (i.e. orders with valid express tracking numbers) must be more than 95%
Fulfillment  Negative Review Rate A seller's Negative Review Rate must be less than 10%
Safety and Compliance Violation Points A seller's accumulated violation point score must be less than twelve (12)

🚨 SKU IQ cannot override this probation at all. The above criteria is from TikTok Shop directly.

12. The sale attribute name should contain less than 20 characters, check the attributes name [variable name] (Error 12019030)

Reason it Happens:

The variable (custom) attribute that you have put in to Shopify (aside from Color/Size) is too long. TikTok Shop has a set limit for attribute names, which is 20 characters. Any attribute name that is longer than this, will throw this error and the item(s) will not push.

Resolution:

You will need to shorten your attribute names to be 20 characters or less on Shopify. There is currently not another way around this.

💡 Tip: You cannot edit this field on SKU IQ.


13. Your Authorization has Expired or Expired Token (Error 105001)

Reason it Happens:

The time period in which the seller authorized the connection between SKU IQ and TikTok Shop has expired. Syncing has halted until the connection can be re-authorized.

Resolution:

You will need to perform the following steps to reauthorize your SKU IQ connection:

  1. Go to the Service Market on TikTok Shop Seller Center and find SKU IQ (or click this link)
  2. Click the Connect button
  3. A popup window will come up where you'll have options for the duration to authorize SKU IQ's connection to TikTok Shop. We recommend selecting 1 Year
  4. Enter your email address in the box below (phone number is optional). Read the permissions we are requesting to have access to, and then at the bottom, click the check box (after reading the disclaimer!) and then click Authorize.
  5. You'll be re-directed to the SKU IQ registration page. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER AGAIN. Simply click "Sign In" at the bottom and sign in with your SKU IQ credentials. If you do not remember your password, that's okay. You can reset your password with these instructions.
  6. Once you have signed in, the connection has been reestablished and syncing will resume!

14. Your Return Warehouse is Not Set Up (Error 12052535)

Reason it Happens:

You have not set up a valid return warehouse in your TikTok Shop Warehouse Settings.

Resolution:

  1. Go to your Warehouse Settings on TikTok Shop Seller Center (under My Account > Account Settings > Warehouse Settings)
  2. Scroll to the bottom to where it says "RETURN WAREHOUSE" 
  3. Add a Warehouse here. 

📝 Note: You must input a VALID PHYSICAL ADDRESS for your return warehouse!

🚨Warning: If it is blank or you are unable to add a warehouse, contact TikTok Shop Support. SKU IQ Support will have limited ability to assist with this. 

15. Other Things to Note About TikTok Shop and Why You Could be Getting Errors

  • TikTok Shop is extremely strict about what categories you can put products in. You should check out our document on Restricted, "Invite Only", and Prohibited Product Categories for more details. 
  • If you are not approved to sell in a certain category, DO NOT USE IT. It will result in a negative impact for your Shop's Health Score. 
  • Keep an eye on your Shop's Health Score. Violations can add up quickly and can result in a suspension or outright ban of your TikTok Shop! You can read more about TikTok Shop's Seller Performance Evaluation Policy here on TikTok Shop Academy. You will need to be logged in to your TikTok Shop Seller account to read this article.
  • There are some words and visuals that TikTok has strict prohibitions on that you cannot include in your product descriptions or related videos. Please make sure you read TikTok Shop Product Listing Guidelines for Sellers and comply with their listing guidelines. Failure to do so will result in negative actions taken against your account. You will need to be logged in to your TikTok Shop Seller account to read this article.
  • Some products that are legal to sell within the United States (or are legal within local state laws) can be prohibited to be sold on TikTok Shop. Please make sure you are familiar with the types of items that are prohibited on TikTok Shop.
  • TikTok Shop is also very strict on pictures you can upload to their platform. Please make sure that your images on Shopify meet these guidelines as otherwise a placeholder image will be uploaded in their stead. 

16. Limitations of the SKU IQ Free Trial

During your free trial, we have the following restriction for your SKU IQ account:

You can only upload TEN products to TikTok Shop via SKU IQ.

If you would like to go beyond this amount, you will need to get on to a paid subscription. You are welcome to start with the basic plan, which is $45 USD per month and will net you up to 400 TikTok orders per month. You can see more information about pricing here.
